As per the industry grapevine, Baali Umar Ko Salaam which was earlier scrapped by Imagine will see light now, but under a different production house..
Remember Baali Umar Ko Salaam, the story about innocent love featuring Jai Soni and Ankita Lokhande that was to be launched on Imagine? The show which was to be produced by Jay Productions was to launch somewhere in November 2008, but did not see the light at all!! Later came the news in February 2009 that the show had been scrapped by the channel.
The latest is that, Imagine is planning to bring a show tracing the innocence of first love, a romantic journey between a school going boy and a girl.
An inside source tells us, "Sumeet and Shashi Mittal, the original writers of Baali Umar Ko Salaam, (which was then to be produced by Jay Productions) have been asked by the channel to proceed with the same concept. This time, Sumeet and Shashi Mittal, makers of Sajan Ghar Jaana Hai on Star Plus will be producing the show. The concept of the show might undergo slight changes, but will be revolving around the innocent love of a school going boy and a girl. The show will have a fresh cast now".
We called up Kinnari Mehta of Jay Productions who said, "This is news to me. If at all the show is being made my wishes to them".
Sumeet Mittal, the Producer in charge now commented, "Yes, it is true that we are making a show for Imagine. But it is not Baali Umar Ko Salaam. It is a love story, but is completely different".
We sent a text message to Saurabh Tewary, Programming Head, Imagine who replied in text, "No it's not true. It is just a rumour".
If sources are to be believed, the casting for the show is already on. Lately, Balaji Telefilms' love story on Star Plus Tere Liye, revolving around two school going kids Taani and Anurag, was received well by the audience.
