Sony Entertainment Television, announced the winners of CID Gallantry Awards, an initiative to encourage and honor acts of bravery in the society. The award winners were felicitated and awarded in presence of distinguished guests, celebrities in a grand and glittering function in Mumbai. CID Gallantry Awards will be telecast on Tuesday, January 26 at 9 pm IST on Sony Entertainment Television.
Commenting on Karizma ZMR presents CID Gallantry Awards, NP Singh, COO of Multi Screen Media said, "This initiative is an extension of the brand CID, among the most loved, admired and successful franchises in the history of Indian television. The idea of CID Gallantry Awards is to recognize, felicitate and honor the feats of people who have performed selfless acts of bravery for the benefit of their fellow citizens and provide a platform to encourage the new generation to be courageous and brave."
The response to the CID Gallantry Awards was overwhelming with thousands of entries coming in from all over the country, an indication of the popularity of the show CID. There were two categories – Physical Bravery (Bravery to save life or property of oneself or someone else) and Social Bravery (Bravery to combat social evils like drug abuse, dowry, child labour, illiteracy, environmental pollution, etc). The prestigious title has been conferred to two brave winners each in the category of Below 15 years and Above 15 years.
The jury members - Gerson da Cunha, an actor, social worker and author; Ashutosh, Managing Editor of IBN7; Shanta Gokhale, writer, translator, cultural critic and theatre historian and Kavita Karkare, the wife of 26/11 martyr Hemant Karkare, a Professor had a difficult time trying to shortlist and select these brave people who have selflessly tried to help the society with their acts of bravery.
CID completes 13 years this January, a milestone for a genre that has stood the test of time and continued to remain popular among its loyal viewers. The popular show is about a team of detectives belonging to the Crime Investigation Division of the Mumbai Police, starring Shivaji Satam, the noted film, television and stage actor among many others.
One of the highest rated shows in its genre, CID is produced by Fireworks and BP Singh and has been on air for the last twelve years. The show has presented various stories which are merited by meticulous research on real life cases.
