Default Geet wraps up shoot; even as fans lament its ending

Yesterday (12 December) was an extremely emotional day for the entire cast of Geet, the prize winning show on Star One, starring heart throbs Gurmeet Choudhary (Maan) and Drashti Dhami (Geet). The reason: it was the last day of filming for the entire cast and crew as the show is scheduled to go off air this Friday 16 December.

All the previous technicians who were at some time or the other associated with Geet were invited to the last day of filming. A cake was cut, Gurmeet manned the camera, hugs were exchanged, tears shed and wiped, the cast and crew even broke into a dance.

The love story launched on 5 April 2010 and ran for about 18 months, and for close to 500 episodes.

It touched the hearts of millions of viewers who have had staged online protests against its closure by the Star One team. They have been making postings in online forums and on Geet’s pages in social networking sites, demanding that the show continues. The channel is expected to re-launch on 18 December as Live Ok.

Close to 100 fans also swarmed the Geet sets in Charkop, Kandivali, Mumbai to get a glimpse of their favourites Maan and Geet.

Says a very emotional Maan: “It was overwhelming to see the love of Geet fans; they came with so many handmade gifts. And they were in tears. I simple could not control myself too. It was very touching.”

Says Drashti: “It was an amazing experience; I am happy that it has ended on a happy note. I hope my fans will continue to support me in any other project I take up. I cannot express it in words and as you say, good things end at the right time and in a right way.”

Tellychakkar.com is sure that Geet fans will surely disagree, as they would like it to never end? Right, fans? Please leave your comments on this page.

(A detailed interview with the two stars follows shortly. So stay tuned in.)
