It's an unfortunate fact of life that you'll have to separate the wheat from the chaff with fencing contractors. As always it's up to you about what you're going to do, and I'll I'm doing is spelling things out for you. Obviously you want to head off and totally prevent problems because of a poor choice. How easily a problem can get solved really is up to the quality of contractor, but also consider that a good one will likely not produce problems.
Talk to the contractor and ask them how long it will take to install it and if there will be days when they won't be out. Ask them if there's any chance they will not be out to finish the job right away, and then pay attention to what they say. You should not hear anything other than a crisp and clear answer because a professional fence contractor is consistent with their business and how they get their work done. It can be hard for some people to say no to a business when they're doing all they can to get your business, but you have to stick to your guns.
When you're talking to the contractor, just see what he has to say about planting the fence posts. And you should also ask if they do anything special to make sure the fence and posts are level and vertically true, and there is equipment the reputable contractors will use that helps them do this. The internet may not be of much help here with local fencing contractors, and that's unfortunate. In addition to what you find online, ask for brochures about their business.
Knowledgeable and courteous contractors will be different and that's not hard to pick up on once you engage them in conversation. None of the stuff about being in a hurry or giving you answers that are not very comprehensive. This is why you have to do your planning and information gathering so you can ask these types of questions. Let's say you talk to a dozen contractors, and if you do then be sure to make notes about each one.
One thing that may help when you're interacting with fence contractors is being confident as you meet and speak with them. The thing about this is you can have a more in depth conversation when you know enough to add to it. Even learning some interviewing skills won't hurt your efforts, and this all is good stuff for you.
