In 2011 once again India was shaken as a 36-year-old auxiliary nurse/midwife Bhanwari Devi goes missing from Jaliwada village (Bilara tehsil) in Rajasthan. Her husband Amarchand alleges she has been kidnapped at the behest of Water Resources Minister Mahipal Maderna. He alleges that Maderna used to call her regularly and that 'I told him once to stop calling my wife, but he denied the fact and instead accused my wife of calling him'. Bhanwari Devi allegedly had a CD showing her in a compromising position with Maderna and was using it to blackmail him before she went missing. The Bhanwari Devi case has nearly brought down the Rajasthan government forcing Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot to effect a major Cabinet reshuffle.
