Nilanjana Purkayasstha to produce a historical on the Maurya dynasty and invasion of Alexander, for Imagine..

Nilanjana Purkayasstha, who was part of BAG Films as the Business Head till recently, is now turning Producer with a historical show on Imagine.
We hear that Nilanjana has got her team in place, and her production house is known as '72 Degrees Northe'. The show will focus on the formation of the Maurya Dynasty and the invasion of Alexander. In other words, it is all about Alexander's attempt to invade India, and how the Maurya Dynasty was set up as a counter to it.
Tentatively titled 'Maurya', the show will be shot in the extensive Sagar Film City in Baroda.
Our source tells us, "While the concept of the show is Nilanjana's, Sagar Arts will co-produce the show with 72 Degrees Northe, and provide them with facilities. The casting process is on at the moment".
We hear that the sets will have a very different look, and the same applies to the costumes used, as the show is about a foreign invasion.
If sources are to be believed, talks are on with the mighty Rajat Tokas who earlier breathed life into the character of Prithviraj Chauhan.
Our source further states, "Rajat's dates are being worked out, as he is presently doing Tere Liye. If he gets finalized, viewers will see him in an extremely different avatar".
The show in all probability will go on air early next year..
We tried calling Nilanjana Purkayasstha, but she remained unavailable for comments. Same was the case with Saurabh Tewari, Programming Head, Imagine.
Our efforts to get in touch with Rajat were in vain.
