Default Pramod wants to learn from Gen X

The veteran actor who will be seen in Sony's upcoming show Maan Rahe Tera Pitaah, humbly says that he is keen for tips on acting from the younger generation …

Pramod Moutho is an actor who has more than seventy films to his credit. Thanks to his distinctive acting style, his is a face that people don't easily forget. The actor has now signed up for Swastik Pictures and Sony's Maan Rahe Tera Pitah, in which he plays a father with special needs.

We asked Pramod if there was anything that he'd like to tell to the young and aspiring actors out there. For after all, he has years of experience to substantiate himself. The actor surprised us by telling, "No advice! I seek knowledge each and every day and I'm a learner myself. In fact the young ones should help me out by saying how I should work with them!"

The actor is very much impressed with the depth of his character. "This is one of those roles that the moment you read, you realize, don't come often. There is no cliche. This is the one role that for me would help me come up to my own standards."

Pramod goes on excitedly, "I take this role as a lifetime opportunity. I'm very much involved in bringing this character alive."

Is the character a mentally challenged person? "Mentally challenged is not the right word. He is not normal, that's for sure. But mentally challenged… this word has many shades to it and I'm not sure whether my character Durgaprasad will match any of those shades. Well, you see, if Durgaprasad sets his mind on something, he will see to it that it gets completed. This passion towards his work brings him on borderline crazy…he may be eccentric…but the apt word would be that he has an obsessive compulsive disorder."

According to him, there is not much difference in working for small screen as well as big screen. "TV and Cinema are pretty much the same. The difference is not in the style of working but the schedule of working. Cinema offers you, comparatively, comfortable working time."

The actor fondly talks about his co-star and on-screen daughter Archana Taide. "I feel she is my 'pichle janam ki bichdi hui beti' (last birth's lost daughter)," he laughs out loud. "God is very kind towards me. He has blessed me with excellent and wonderful people as my co-actors," he adds as an afterthought.
