Endemol's upcoming fiction show tentatively titled Dahan will hit Zee TV some time mid- May. The show which is set against a rural backdrop will be a daily. Though the other actors have still to be signed in, one important name that is being considered is Yashpal Sharma better known as traitor Lakha of Lagaan.
The actor is all set for his big role as an antagonist as it's a key role.
A source informs, "The show will launch sometime in May and in all likelihood will be a primetime daily. Seasoned actor Yashpal Sharma will play the central character in the show. The show is set against the backdrop of Uttar Pradesh and Sharma will play a thakur in the show who happens to be an arbitrator in the village."
When contacted, Sharma confirmed that he has been approached for the show and is keen on doing it but refused to divulge any details. He said, "Yes, I have been approached for the show but nothing is confirmed as yet. In all probability I will do the show."
Sharma has done a few episodes of CID and Aahat but this will be his first ever daily soap on television.
Rajesh Chaddha, director Operations, Endemol India, refused to comment. Endemol is currently producing Sabki Laadli Bebo on Star Plus and is all set to launch Geet on Star One.
